UK law

Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act (1986)

ASPA provides guidance on the application of Home Office Project Licences, stating that an assessment of the potential severity of animal experiments is absolutely required before a licence will be granted.

The law has been amended since its first implementation, to bring it in line with EU Directive 2010/63. The amendments came into force on January 1, 2013 and the Home Office issued a 'quick start' guide to help scientists identify the main changes.
