Animal experimentation in the UK continues to rise

1) The number of Old World Primates used has increased despite assurances by the Home Office that researchers will be discouraged from using macaques.

2) The number of genetically modified animals used, continues to rise and the tendency is to use these animals in preference to normal animals.

3) More rabbits were used in 2005 for toxicity testing than in recent years.
