FRAME attending World Congress 8
The 8th World Congress on Alternatives and Animal Use in the Life Sciences is a forum that supports the ethical use of animals and quality science. This year's Congress motto is "The Three Rs-Together it's possible".
FRAME representatives will present scientific posters, lead and participate in discussions, deliver lectures, and offer practical training sessions.
There will be several opportunities to highlight FRAME’s highly successful training schools in design and statistical analysis of biomedical experiments during the Congress. As well as exhibiting the award winning poster about the schools, FRAME Scientific Programme Manager Michelle Hudson will run a shortened training session during a satellite meeting.
She will work with Dr Derek Fry, a medical academic who was Chief Inspector of the UK Animal Scientific Procedures Inspectorate until his retirement in 2008. He has been a regular lecturer at the FRAME schools.
Michelle will also co-chair a session, with Marlies Leenaars of the Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Centre, Netherlands, on systematic review of animal experiments.
Director of the FRAME Alternatives Laboratory (FAL) Dr Andrew Bennett will also be co-chairing a session, and FAL researchers will be taking scientific posters, including one on the use of microarrays in toxicity testing.
