Chapter 2: The Principles and Procedures of Validation

The aim of this chapter is to give a brief overview of the principles of validation, and of the manner in which they are applied by ECVAM, with reference to the main publications in the field. A short review by Balls & Fentem explains the key concepts of validation and regulatory acceptance, whereas a consolidated account based on the many papers that describe ECVAM's principles and procedures is in preparation.
