The Fifth World Congress on Alternatives and Animal Use in the Life Sciences took place from 22–25 August 2005 at the Estrel Conference Centre, Berlin. The co-chairs for the Congress were Horst Spielmann, from ZEBET (The Centre for Documentation and Evaluation of Alternatives to Animal Experiments, Germany), and Andrew Rowan, from the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS).
