Test Validation: From Animal Data Comparison to Prospective Evaluation
Erik Walum
Extended abstract
With the human genome sequenced and assembled, and a large portion of its genes delineated, it is important to extend our attention beyond gene structure into gene function, i.e. into functional genomics. In the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, the segment of functional genomics that deals with the evaluation of new gene products as drug targets is refered to as target validation.
