Preliminary Results of the ECVAM Validation Study on Three In Vitro Embryotoxicity Tests

According to the report and recommendations of the joint ECVAM/ETS (European Centre for the Validation of Alternative Methods/European Teratology Society) workshop on reproductive toxicology, there is a strong demand for the validation of existing in vitro alternatives to testing in mammals for the potential reproductive toxicity of chemicals. Thus, in 1996, ECVAM officially advertised a call for tenders for conducting a validation study of in vitro embryotoxicity tests.
