Introduction The Scandinavian Society for Cell Toxicology (SSCT) held its 18th annual workshop in Sollentuna, Sweden, on 7–10 September 2000. The meeting was arranged in cooperation with the Nordic Information Centre for Alternative Methods (NICA), and was attended by 52 participants from 13 countries.
