The Twentieth Workshop of the Scandinavian Society for Cell Toxicology

Introduction

The 20th Annual Workshop of the Scandinavian Society for Cell Toxicology (SSCT) was held on 22–24 September 2002, at St Catherine’s College, Oxford, UK, as part of a joint meeting on human cell culture, coorganised by the European Tissue Culture Society (ETCS), the British Prostate Group (BPG) and the SSCT. The extremely interesting scientific programme and excellent organisation of the meeting was very much appreciated by all the participants. The topics covered included: normal and cancer primary cell cultures; human cell toxicology; immortalisation and senescence; carcinogenesis and cancer progression; and other topics related to these fields. New exciting data on stem cell properties, cell transformation and carcinogenesis were reported.
